     She married Robert LaFayette "Bob" Hardeman. It is a guess that he married a third time after the death of his second wife. "No children.".²

     Yelly (Yearly) (Early) Bolling (Bolin) From Alvy Smith email evidence:

"[Elizabeth Witt White] got some general information that Lucy m. Yearly Bolling -- said that seemed to be the accepted spelling there -- and found a deed transaction between Yearly and Lorenzo Dow Sanders -- our Lucy's brother.

A group called themselves 'The Nashville Colony' under James Robertson, who established this colony in Texas near Dallas. Elizabeth said that the Bollings were connected with this James Robertson in some way."

From most of the record's I have inspected, his name is usually spelled Yelly or Yelley Bolin.

From 1850 Giles Co, TN, census:

NB. The listing above is from the Giles Co website http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngiles/. Another photocopy of the census sent me by Elizabeth Witt White has the same information and the same names but the spellings are transcribed in it as:

These plus Lorenzo Dow B account for 10 of their 13 children (see text for Lucy Sanders).

And in handwriting next to Louisa is "m James Monroe Wells". Also, on this second version of the 1850 census is the listing at household 1245 for "L. D. BOLEN 24 M Carpenter TN 11" and underneath in handwriting is the note "s/o Yearly & Lucy Sanders Bolling". Under household 149 "Reuben NANCE 52 M Farmer 1500 TN" is the daughter "Martha 16 F TN" and next to her name is the handwritten note "m Lorenzo D. Bolen".

The Bolin Family evidence from the Jackson Bible (see http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/data/bazebib.htm):

"The following list of names were found in Joe and Celia B. Jackson's family bible: They were transcribed exactly as appears. They also do not appear to have been written by the same hand as other documentation in the Bible. ... This transcriber does not know how these individuals relate to the BAZE family, JOSEPH A. JACKSON family, or O'NEIL family. J. A. and C. B. Jackson's family Bible surfaced in January 1998. It appears to have been out of J.A.'s and C.B.'s hands possibly after the death of C.B.'s father in 1915. That is the most recent item in the Bible. A kind man, David Bothman, in Santa Barbara, CA, had the Bible, and made efforts to contact those the Bible would be most important to, and cherished by. David, thank you. I wish to share these lists with other researchers who may have despaired at ever finding a few answers.

I have a photocopy of the list too (from Elizabeth Witt White). I read it almost the same as above except the line "Fran & Jount" looks to me like "Fran & Fount" or "Tran & Fount". Note that this list has 15 children.

With input from Shirley Southwell, I now know that the connection between the Bolins, Jacksons, and O'Neils is Fountainella Bolin who married William O'Neil then later married Thomas E Jackson Jr.

Bolin Estate:

The 1860 Stone Co MO Census shows the youngest children of Yelly and Lucy living with Mary:

Yelly was born at Virginia, USA, on 1 September 1801.^7,8 He married Lucy E Sanders at Tennessee, USA, circa 1824.^9,10 He moved in 1850 at Stone, Missouri, USA. His body was interred at Stone, Missouri, USA, at Cape Fair Cemetery.^4,5 Yelly died before 16 January 1857 at Stone, Missouri, USA.^10,3 Yelly's will was probated at Stone, Missouri, USA, on 16 January 1857.¹¹ He left property to be administered by an unknown person at Missouri, USA, in March 1863.¹²

     Lorenzo Dow Bolin (Bolen) From a second photocopy (ie, a second transcription) of the 1850 Giles Co census, sent me by Elizabeth Witt White:

On this second version of the 1850 census is the listing at household 1245 for "L. D. BOLEN 24 M Carpenter TN 11" and underneath in handwriting is the note "s/o Yearly & Lucy Sanders Bolling". The Southwell family record sheet gives his wife as Cassandra H Aspell however m 1851

Lucy Bolen Estate, 29 Jul 1858:

"gdn. and cur. bond dated 15 June 1870, L. D. Bowlen was appt. gdn. and cur. of estate of Tennessee C. Bowlen and Lucy E. Bowlen, minor heirs of Martha E. Bowlen."

Note at bottom of page, handwritten by Elizabeth Witt White (I believe): "Martha E. Bolling was the daughter of Reuben Nance, married Lorenzo Dow Bolling".

The full middle name was supplied by Shirley Southwell's email of 4 May 2000: "Lorenzo Dow Bolin married Ellen Nancie or Nance in 1851. She died 4 May 1864. He married Cassandra H. Aspell or Asbell on 10 December 1865."

Lorenzo was born at Giles, Tennessee, USA, on 24 July 1827.^7,8,9,10 He married Martha Ellen Nance in 1851.^11,3 He married Cassandra H Aspell (Asbell) at Tennessee, USA, on 10 December 1865.^9,3 Lorenzo died on 24 March 1902 at Stone, Missouri, USA, at age 74.^9,12 His body was interred at Stone, Missouri, USA, at Cape Fair Cemetery.¹³

     William Johnson Magistrate - Maury Co, TN

Johnson Bible: "Alexander Johnson, eldest son of William and Sarah, descendants of Gideon Johnson and Daniel McClaran of Dan River, N.C."

Also, "William Johnson who was born December 27th, 1749, departed this life on Monday between 8 & 9 o'clock P.M. February 8th 1830, aged 80 years, 1 month & 12 days."

His middle name might be Randolph. See grandson William Randolph Johnson.

NB, Jean Bellenfant bought 310 acres from William Johnson and Sarah on the Dan River in 1792 [qv]. William was born on 27 December 1749. Bellenfant Family evidence gives "b. 7 Dec 1789" which is clearly incorrect..^2,3 He married Sarah McClaran before 14 April 1782. Son Alexander b 14 Apr 1782.^1,2 William died on 8 February 1830 at age 80.²

     Sarah McClaran Johnson Bible: "Alexander Johnson, eldest son of William and Sarah, descendants of Gideon Johnson and Daniel McClaran of Dan River, N.C."

Also: "Sarah Johnson, widow of William Johnson, survived her husband 5 years, 6 months & 22 dyas, and died on the 2nd of September, 1835, aged 79 years, 8 months, & 8 days. Wanted 4 months & 4 days of having lived as long as her husband. 53 years of her protracted life, she trusted in and tried to live to her Saviour. _____ and was peace." This makes her birthday 25 Dec 1755. Sarah was born on 25 December 1755.¹ She married William Johnson before 14 April 1782. Son Alexander b 14 Apr 1782.^2,1 Sarah died on 2 September 1835 at age 79.¹

     William Randolph Johnson Johnson Bible: "William Randolph, third son, was born Sunday at 5 o'clock P.M. October A.D. 1810."

Also, "William Randolph Johnson, third son of Alexander and Mary B. Johnson departed this life at half past 2 o'clock P.M. September the 7th 1830, aged 19 years & 11 months."

Judging by how his siblings were named, he was probably named for his Johnson grandfather.

Bellenfant Family: "William Randolph Johnson, b. Oct 1810, d. 7 Sept 1830." William was born in October 1810.^3,1,2 William died on 7 September 1830 at age 19.^3,1,2 His body was interred at Maury, Tennessee, USA, at Johnson/Amis Cemetery.³

     He married Martha Ann Cheatham (Chatham) at Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 9 July 1835.^4,1,5

     He married Alizabeth (Elizabeth) Ann "Eliza" Baird at Columbia, Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 9 October 1835.^3,1,4

     She married John Ballanfant (Bellenfant) Johnson at Columbia, Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 9 October 1835.^1,2,3

     She married Stephen C Nolen on 12 February 1834.^3,1,2

     He married Mary Ann Johnson on 12 February 1834.^1,2,3

     Joseph Alexander Johnson Johnson Bible: "Joseph Alexander, fifth son was born at 10 o'clock A.M. on Thursday, September 13th A.D. 1821."

Also: "Joseph Alexander Johnson, fifth & youngest son was married to Wilmuth H. Malone, only daughter of Miles Malone, Esq. of Mississippi on Tuesday the 11th of November 1847."

Bellenfant Family: "Joseph Alexander Johnson, b. 13 Sept 1821, d. 2 Mar 1881, m(1) 11 Nov. 1847 [pencilled in] to Wilmuth H. Malone, only dau of Miles Malone of Miss. m(2) 1859 Martha Amanda Johnson (1839-k1903) - at least two children." Joseph was born on 13 September 1821.^3,1,2 He married Wilmuth H Malone at Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 11 November 1847.^3,1,2 He married Martha Amanda Johnson in 1859.² Joseph died on 2 March 1881 at age 59. The Alexander-Polly Johnson evidence gives deathdate as 1857, which is suspect since he marries a second time in 1859!.^3,2

     Wilmuth was born. She married Joseph Alexander Johnson at Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 11 November 1847.^1,2,3

     Elizabeth Jane Johnson Johnson Bible: "Elizabeth Jane, fourth daughter born Tuesday, 25th May, 11 o'clock A.M., A.D. 1824."

Also: "Elizabeth J. Wilkes, 4th daughter of Alexander & Mary J. Johnson departed this life, Feb. 21st 1902, with the triumphant words 'I am ready!' on her lips. The last of her race." [This curious statement is followed by a list entitled: "Ages of Negroes, April 1848", containing 14 names. So perhaps it just means that hers is the last entry in the "whites" section.]

Bellenfant Family: "Elizabeth Jane Johnson, b. 25 May 1824 Tn., d. 21 Feb 1902, m(1) to a Mr. Martin, according to Miss Susan Akin, descendant of Joseph Ballanfant; m(2) Rev. Wm. H. Wilkes, b. 7 May 1821, d. 15 Oct 1895 as his 3rd wife, the first two being daughters of Thomas and Hannah Amis; he was a Methodist. ("They Passed This Way", Vol. 1, D-206)." Elizabeth was born at Tennessee, USA, on 25 May 1824.^3,1,4 She married (?) Martin. "Widowed".^3,2 She married Rev William H Wilkes at Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 8 January 1861. "Widowed".^3,5 Elizabeth died on 21 February 1902 at age 77.^3,1,2 Her body was interred at Maury, Tennessee, USA, at Wilkes Cemetery.³

     William was born on 7 May 1821.¹ He married Elizabeth Jane Johnson at Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 8 January 1861. "Widowed".^2,3 William died on 15 October 1895 at age 74.¹
