Unfortunately, this clashes with The Shoecobbler's Kin pp 873, 893:

"ELIHU H. PERKINS b.ca1805 Lincoln Co., NC d. probably california after 1850 m.15 Nov 1838 Lincoln Co., MO to Avice Sally Riggs b.4 Nov 1812, MO, dau of Jonathan and Jane Shaw Riggs. Elihu and Avice were residing at house #171-171 Lincoln Co., MO 1850 census. He left for the California Gold fields shortly thereafter, (during summer of 1850). Four children shown on census by initials only.
