     Henry was born. He married Susan Mary Ballanfant at Culleoka, Maury, Tennessee, USA, circa 1873.^1,2

     Callie was born in 1851.¹ She married William Evans Ballanfant at Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 17 November 1875.^2,3 Callie died in 1933.¹

     W was born. He married Eliza Turner Ballanfant at Culleoka, Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 30 August 1875.^1,2

     Ida was born on 8 November 1858.¹ She married Jonathan Hunt Ballanfant at Culleoka, Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 7 November 1878.^2,3

     Melville was born in 1849.² He married Martha Booker "Pattie" Ballanfant at Culleoka, Maury, Tennessee, USA, on 30 January 1890.³ Melville died in 1908.²

     DRURY was born. He The deed evidence indicates that Drury had sons Shadrack and Stokes plus daughters Sus (unmarried), Louisa (m John Bellenfant), ? (m John May), ? (m John Menzies), ? (m Robert Galloway), Sarah (m ? Lewis, widow), and Betsy (m ? Davis, widow). Another possibility is that Sus[annah?] Yeoman is the widow of Drury.

Jo Ellis in an email of 7 May 1998 says that Sarah and Betsy were sisters and that Sarah had a son Shadrack Lewis.

Summary: the children listed for Drury are a theory based on the argument above. There needs to be further proof to establish these.

"Mary Jessaline "Polly" Bellenfant, b. 29 Mar 1787 Va. elder one of twins, d. 3 Jan 1875 Columbia, Maury Co, Tn; m. 3 Aug 1805 Wentwork, Rockingham Co., N.C. to Alexander Johnson, b. 14 Apr 1782 N.C; d. 7 Feb 1857, son of William Johnson (b. 7 Dec 1789, d. 8 Feb 1830) and Sarah (McClaran) Johnson (d. 2 Sept 1835, aged 79 yrs, 8 mo, 8 days), grandson of Gideon Johnson and Daniel of McClaran of Dan River, N.C. They came to Williamson Co., Tn. probably about Nov. 1809 and were residing there for 1820 census. Later they moved to Maury Co. She joined the Methodist Church in 1829. They were both buried in Johnson Cem., Culleoka, Tn. 11 children. ("Maury County, Tn. Cousins" Vol 1, p 321, Johnson, Bible)."

The Mary Louise Russell evidence has marginal note by her name: "Marilu Russell Ancestor" [herself?]

The Russell evidence give her marriage date as 6 Aug 1805; the Carter evidence (from Rockingham Co records), it is 3 Aug 1803 (or 05). The Ellis evidence and the Johnson Bible give it as 6 Aug 1806.

She is listed as a Methodist.

'Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.' Prov. XXXI - 29." Mary was born at Halifax, Virginia, USA, on 29 March 1787.^3,2,5,6 She married Alexander Johnson at Wentworth, Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 3 August 1805.^3,2,7,8,6 She moved in November 1809 at Williamson, Tennessee, USA.^5,9 Mary was listed as a member of a church at Maury, Tennessee, USA, in 1829.¹⁰ Mary died on 3 January 1875 at Columbia, Maury, Tennessee, USA, at age 87.^3,2,5,6 Her body was interred at Culleoka, Maury, Tennessee, USA, at Johnson/Amis Cemetery.²

     Susannah "Susie, Suky" Ballanfant (Bellenfant) The Russell evidence gives the marriage date as 11 Jun 1808; the Carter evidence (from county records) gives 13 Jun 1808.

"Sucky Beloffen came into court and chose James Henry her guardian"[what does this mean? her parents are living]. 13 June 1808 Wentworth, Rockingham Co., N.C. to Archilles Winters Winn (Wynn), b. 17 Nov 1784 Rockingham Co., N.C. d. 13 Apr 1868 Culleoka, Maury Co., Tn., son of James Winn and Mary Ann (Winn) Winn (cousins). James was son of Daniel Winn of Lunenburg Co., Va. and Sarah - -. Mary Ann was dau of John Winn and Ann (Stone) Winn. Susannah and Arch Winn sold property in Rockingham Co., N.C. -- 224 acres -- #2298, dated 17 Aug 1815; moved to Maury Co., Tn., probably soon after this land transaction. Arch Winn is listed p. 108 in "Century of Progress, 1805-1905" as one of the early settlers of the county which was established in 1807."

Susannah was born at Halifax, Virginia, USA, on 23 January 1789.² She married Archilles (Archelaus) Winters "Arch" Winn (Wynn) at Wentworth, Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 13 June 1808.^2,3 She bought property at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 17 August 1815.¹ She moved after 17 August 1815 at Maury, Tennessee, USA.¹ Susannah died on 16 December 1864 at Maury, Tennessee, USA, at age 75.¹ Her body was interred at Maury, Tennessee, USA, at Winn Cemetery.²

It was said that John, Joseph and one sister migrated together to Middle Tennessee, probably about 1816; m. Williamson Co., Tn. 8 Aug 1819 to Jane Mary Scales, b. 11 Dec 1800 N.C. dau of Absalom and Nancy (Dalton) Scales who were among the original settlers of Eagleville, Rutherford Co., Tn., according to "History of Eagleville, Tenn" p. 54, 107-8; John and Jane first resided in Williamson Co. and later in Rutherford Co., Tn. They were buried in the Family Cemetery on the original Scales Plantation, Eagleville. 7 children." John was born at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 1 January 1795.³ He married Jane Mary Scales at Williamson, Tennessee, USA, on 8 August 1819.^1,4 John was listed as the head of a family on the in 1860 Census at Versailles, Rutherford, Tennessee, USA.⁵ John died on 2 April 1867 at Bodenham, Giles, Tennessee, USA, at age 72. His body was interred on 6 April 1867 at Eagleville, Rutherford, Tennessee, USA, at Scales Family Cemetery.^2,1

     Corinne Mourning Bellenfant From "The Bellenfant Family" by Mrs J S Wilkinson:

"Mourning Bellenfant, b. 23 Aug 1797. It was said that her mother had been on a visit with her husband's people in Marseille, France and was on board ship en route home when she died in giving birth to a daughter. Louisa was buried at sea, and the child was named 'Mourning' because of this incident. The family was living in Rockingham Co., N.C. at the time. It is not known when Mourning came to Middle Tenn., but she was married in Williamson County. The license was obtained 20 Mar 1815, and her Bible showed marriage 5 Apr 1815 to Franklin McClaran with his brother Garland A. McClaran as bondsman. Franklin McClaran b. 6 Jan 1791 N.C., probably Rockingham Co; was one of 12 children of Alexander and Jane McClaran (Williamson Co., Tn. Will Book 8, p275-6, proved in 1816). Alexander was the son of Daniel McClaran of Dan River, N.C., thought to be in Rockingham Co. Daughter Julia wrote in 1868 from Clebourne, Cross Co., Ark. to her uncle Joseph Ballanfant of Culleoka, Tn., naming her living sisters and brothers. Records of the nine children were shown in the Bible, belonging originally to Mourning and later to Julia, but now it is owned by Julia's gdau., Agnes C. Pope of Memphis, Tn. The family resided in Williamson Co., Tn. as early as 1816, as indicated by Franklin's inheritance from his father of "land on which he lived", moved to Fayette Co., Tn. by 1836 and were there for the 1850 census. Franklin died 11 June 1853 in Fayette Co. and was buried in Macon, Fayette Co. By the 1860 census Mourning and some of her children were living in that part of Poinsett Co., Ark. which, in 1862, became Cross Co., Ark. Mourning was still living there in 1870 with dau Julia (McClaran) Pope. Franklin was a first cousin to Alexander Johnson who married Mourning's sister, Mary Jessaline "Polly" Bellenfant." Corinne was born at sea, At sea, on 23 August 1797.^4,2,5 As of 5 April 1815,her married name was McClaran.^6,2,7,8 She married Franklin S McClaran at Williamson, Tennessee, USA, on 5 April 1815.^6,2,7,8 She moved before 1836 at Fayette, Tennessee, USA.³ She moved before 1860 at Poinsett, Arkansas, USA.³ Corinne died on 23 May 1881 at Jonesboro, Craighead, Arkansas, USA, at age 83.^9,2 Her body was interred at Vanndale, Cross, Arkansas, USA, at Old Mt Zion Cemetery.¹⁰

February 7th 1857." Alexander was born at Guilford, North Carolina, USA, on 14 April 1782.^2,4 He married Mary Jessaline "Polly" Bellenfant at Wentworth, Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 3 August 1805.^1,2,5,6,7 He moved in November 1809 at Williamson, Tennessee, USA.^4,8 Alexander died on 7 February 1857 at Maury, Tennessee, USA, at age 74.^2,4 His body was interred at Culleoka, Maury, Tennessee, USA, at Johnson/Amis Cemetery.²
