The Mary Louise Russell evidence has this marginal note by his name: "Lee Bellenfant Ancestor".
Bellenfant Bible: "Joseph Ballanfant eldest son of John Ballanfant, a native of France and Sally Turner fifth daughter of James Turner were married by Rev'd Garner McConnico in Williamson County, Tennessee on the 22nd day of April A D 1819"
Also: "Joseph Ballanfant died on the 9 of November 1869 in his 79th year."

Bellenfant Family: "Joseph Ballanfant was born 14 Nov 1790 in Halifax Co., Va., d. 9 Nov 1869. When he was very young, his family moved to Rockingham Co., N.C. where he grew up. In the May 1802 Term of Court in Rockingham Co., "Joseph Betoffen, age 12 was bound out to Z. Strong". [This would make more sense if Betoffen were a transcription error for Beloffen.] He served in the War of 1812 for six months, beginning 28 Nov 1814. He went to Williamson Co. Tn., probably soon after this war service, where he farmed a few years, then, according to "Century Review of Maury Co., Tenn., 1807-1907" p. 112, he moved, in 1824, to Maury Co. where he lived until his death. He was one of the ones in his family who made a change in the spelling of the surname. He was m. 22 Apr 1819 in Williamson Co. to Sally Turner, b. 7 Aug 1801, Caswell Co., N.C., d. 18 Apr 1876. Sally was the fifth dau of James Turner who was in the American Revolution in the Battle of Guilford Court House. Both Joseph and Sally were bu. in the family graveyard near Culleoka. Joseph was a trustee of the first school in Culleoka in 1835. Pleasant Grove (Culleoka) Post Office was opened at the Bellenfant homestead about 1835 and continued there for about ten years. ("Century Review of Maury Co., Tn. 1805-1905", pp109-110). Though family tradition and a few histories have said that there was only one child - a son, John - the Maury County census of 1830 showed also a girl in Joseph's household -- 1 female under 5 yrs. She may have died young." Joseph was born at Halifax, Virginia, USA, on 14 November 1790.3,1 He moved after 10 February 1791 at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA.4 Joseph served in the military on 28 November 1814.5 He moved circa 1815 at Williamson, Tennessee, USA.6 He married Sarah "Sally" Turner at Williamson, Tennessee, USA, on 22 April 1819.3,1,2 He moved in 1824 at Maury, Tennessee, USA.7 Joseph died on 9 November 1869 at Maury, Tennessee, USA, at age 78.3,8 His body was interred at Culleoka, Maury, Tennessee, USA, at Bellenfant Cemetery.3

Theophelus Evans The Bellenfant Family Bible (as transcribed in notes I have received) contains the following cryptic entry: "His 1son? Ifather Theophelus Evans one of the signers of _______ in Comparland---N.C. 1775 and in the fight Alliance R_______in 1771." This is rendered elsewhere ("The Bellenfant Family" by Mrs. J A Wilkinson) as "Theophelus Evans, having been one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and fought in Cumberland County, N.C." Unfortunately, there was no Theophelus Evans who signed the Declaration of Independence, nor an Evans of any sort.
However, from http://www2.arkansas.net/~mgee/genealo.html#charles:
"In the "squad" of Whigs whom Mrs. Gee set free, were Theophilus Evans and John Oliver, two of the signers of the famous Liberty Point Declaration."
And, from http://members.aol.com/dixieten/parker.html:
"John Parker is believed to be the "John Parker" who was one of the 39 signers of the "Liberty Point Declaration of Independence", which was signed by North Carolina patriots on June 20, 1775."
