The Wiese Family Group Sheet gives birthplace as "Halifax Co., VA or Orange Co., NC". But in another place in the same evidence it is given as "probably Rockingham County, N.C."

The birthdate comes from a torn page in the Sanders/Saunders Family Bible. It could be the 6th, 16th, or 26th of Jan 1772..^1,2 He married an unknown person before 1800.³

     Elenor Sanders Family Bible evidence: "Elenor Sanders daughter of James Sanders & Alice his wife was born April the 14th 1774 & departed this life in September the 17th day 1794." Elenor was born on 14 April 1774. Family Group Sheet evidence lists birthplace as "Rockingham Co., N.C.?".^2,1 Elenor died on 17 September 1794 at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, at age 20.^2,1

     Agnis Sanders Family Bible: "Agnis Sanders daug... of James Sanders and ... his wife was born Apr... 9th 1778." Agnis was born at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 9 April 1778.^1,2 She married Claiborn Wall at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 5 February 1800. Cited: "Marriage records of Rockingham Co. North Carolina".² Agnis died before August 1847 at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA.²

     Robert Sanders The Family Bible evidence (photocopy of a fragment) lists his birth as September 7th ----. His birth is handwritten between Agnis b 1778 and William b 1783. Since the children are spaced about 2 yrs apart, 1780 or 1781 is probably the birth year:

"Robert Sanders Son of ... Sanders and Alice his ... was born September 7th ..." Robert was born at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 7 September 1780.^1,2 He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Roach at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, on 28 February 1809.^3,2 Robert died before 1840 at Rockingham, North Carolina, USA.²

"There is no Bible record for James Sanders, Jr. and Sarah, so we do not have a complete list of their children. I have included Reason as a child for reasons listed below. Alford M Sanders is definitely a child of James, Jr. and Sarah according to [another source].

"According to Reason's granddaughter, Reason was the son of James Sanders Jr., who was the son of James Sanders Sr.

"Reason's family Bible information is on the back of the same page that contains the family record of his grandfather, James Sanders, Sr. and wife Alice. The parents of Reason do not have a family Bible record listed on the surviving pages of James and Alice Sanders Bible. Reason will be listed by this researcher as a child of James Jr. and Sarah Walker, because of the statement made by Reason's granddaughter that Reason was the son of James Jr. On Reason's family record [ie, on the same page as his marriage record] in the Bible, there is a listing for the marriage of Alfred W. Sanders and Rutha Roach. Alfred is obviously a close relative or he would not have been included in this record. Alfred W. Sanders was the son of a Jane Sanders, according to various deeds in Rockingham Co., NC. He also had a brother, Lorenzo Dow Sanders. Lorenzo is mentioned as a grandson of James Sr. in a deed. If Alfred is Reason's brother, then it is possible that Reason is not the son of James Sanders Jr. and Sarah Walker. ..."

     Mary Minnie Hair "Gravestone and Birth Cert. dates are not an exact match (though we know for sure this is the same person) Gravestone: b.16 April 1861 d.9 Sep 1926 Death Cert.: b.29 May 1859 d.22 Sep 1926 This researcher [Teresa Wilson Wiese] will use the date from the gravestone since it more closely matches census records."
