Paulus Rutan, son of Abraham Rutemps, b. New Palz, Ulster Co., 1686 settle din Philipsburgh where he married in 1708 Carel Davids' sister Angelica and probably lived on his brother-in-law's leasehold until he moved to Rosendale, Bergen Co., NJ about 1723."3

Abraham Rutan There are records for the following children to Abraham Rutan at the First Reformed Church of Tarrytown (Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow), Location: Town of Mt Pleasant, Westchester County. It is not clear whether this is the current Abraham Rutan or his son (?) Abraham:
"Child: Johannis Reference ID: 1487
Bapt. Date: 14 Apr 1755
Parents: Abraham Rutan
Sponsors: Johannis Van Tessel and his wife"
"Child: Esther Reference ID: 1596
Bapt. Date: 25 Oct 1757
Parents: Abraham Rutan
Sponsors: Jacob Van Tessel; Esther Van Tessel"
"Child: William Reference ID: 1723
Bapt. Date: 14 Apr 1761
Parents: Abraham Rutan; Altie his wife
Sponsors: William Artse; Maratie his wife"
"Child: Davit Reference ID: 1982
Bapt. Date: 18 Apr 1769
Parents: Aberam Ratan; Aeltie his wife
Sponsors: Davit Van Tessel, Lena Van Tessel"
The Sleepy Hollow transcription assigns these children to an Abraham and his wife Aeltie Van Tessel, who are listed as members of the SH church on 30 Oct 1770.
What is not clear is if the Abraham of Abraham and Aeltie is the current Abraham. In favor is the fact of the SH records. Against is the fact that Abraham would have been 60 at the birth of the last child and 46 at the birth of the first child listed above. There appears to be a missing generation, but the SH records don't even hint at it.
Another possibility is that Abraham married a young wife, say Aeltje was born c 1730-35, then she would have been 20-25 at the youngest child's birth above and 34-39 at the last child's birth.
I am going to tentatively add the wife and children to this Abraham's data, as placeholders at least.2 Abraham was born before 2 August 1709.1 He was baptized at Sleepy Hollow Dutch Church, Tarrytown, Westchester, New York, USA, on 2 August 1709. Religion: (an unknown value).3,4,5 He married Aeltie [Adaline] Van Tessel circa 1754; a guess - see Note.6
