Johannes [Hannes] Rutan Meachem Rutan papers:
"It has been suggested that this John Rutan was the son of Daniel Rutan bap 1684 at New Paltz NY, the eldest son of Abraham Rutan who came to America in 1675. Daniel had land surveyed for him in the Ramapo Tract (later Franklin Twp) in 1714. In 1744 he deeded land there to his son Abraham who married Sara van Gelder."
This refers to a John Rutan father of Barent Retan etc. Meachem is unwilling to make the connection of John to this Johannes.

Hannah Howell Mary Smith evidence:
"Here let me introduce my grandmother, Hannah Howell, born in Troy, June 20th, 1763, on the place formerly owned by Andrew J. Smith and opposite his dwelling. At the age of 17 she married Major Lemuel Minton of the Continental Army of Littleton, New Jersey; and had six children.
Her husband, Major Minton, was at the battle of Springfield.
...
At the age of 32 she was left a widow. In 1792 she united with the Baptist Church in Morristown
After six years she married deacon Thomas Osborn, and moved to Parsippany to the house now occupied by Mr. William Benedict. Here their only child was born, April 25, 1802; my mother. She was named Mary Allen Osborn after the first Mrs. Osborn
Her [woman above] daughter, Sarah Minton, married Royal Hopkins … Their daughter Harriet Mason Royal Hopkins. He was born in Pittsford, Vermont, October 8, 1784.
Grandmother she saw her husband fall; he did not rise. Thomas Osborn had made his last stroke; he had done his last work. He died July 27, 1818, aged 65 years.
I have seen a copy of the inventory of the goods, rights and credits of Thomas Osborn and signed by his executors, Hannah Osborn and Royal Hopkins. The appraisers were Daniel Farrand and Silas Condit. After stating that the foregoing inventory had been appraised according to their best judgment and understanding was duly sworn before the Surrogate, David Thompson, Jr., August 24, 1818.
