     Mary Margaret Wilson Mary Margaret Wilson Slate Smith. She had four children in her first marriage. One was Beckie whose daughter, Virginia Vanlaningham of Cliff, NM (11/93) was the source of information about this branch of the family. Mary was born at Bosque, Texas, USA, on 23 January 1872. She married Samuel Slate on 15 May 1892. She married BENJAMIN BENTON SMITH on 15 March 1909. Pedigree Resource File gives 30 Mar 1892 in Bride's Home, Dona Ana, NM.^1,2,3 Mary died on 19 February 1939 at Cliff, Grant, New Mexico, USA, at age 67. Her body was interred at Gila, Grant, New Mexico, USA, at Mesa Cemetery.⁴

     Samuel died. Samuel was born. He Killed while working on a well rig. He married Mary Margaret Wilson on 15 May 1892.

     Harley was born at Fort Thomas, Graham, Arizona, USA, on 14 March 1902. He married Mary Elizabeth Smith at Safford, Graham, Arizona, USA, on 25 March 1927. Harley died on 19 April 1970 at Globe, Gila, Arizona, USA, at age 68.

     ELIZABETH MARY HARRISON See text for husband Jesse R Smith. There is confusion as to her maiden surname. Was it Harrison or Polk? Webb 1993 has it Polk. The MyFamily.com, The Gililland Family forum has this letter from Sherry Thompson, posted 16 Jun 2001 which seems to be definitive:

"... My great great grandfather is Jesse R. Smith and his wife Elizabeth M. Harrison. They were married in Washington Co., Tx. My great grandmother Sophrona or spelled Saphrinia, I'm not sure which is my grandmothers, mother ..."
