"Nancy's brothers [ie, NANCY ANN BUTLER] all served in the Revolution except for Aaron who died in 1776-1777. John was a Brigadier General of the Militia in North Carolina. Edmund fought in Georgia and Nancy's brother, William was notable as a "Regulator" in North Carolina and received land grants in North Carolina AND Edgefield County, South Carolina for his wartime services. William was to die there November 1790 as per an oath given by William's widow, Phoebe Childers Butler in the early 1800's.

John Lowe also received a land grant in George for military service. He and Nancy moved to Georgia possibly during the war or shortly thereafter."

Webb 1978 shows family tree (on back side of record) with James Butler father of Nancy Ann Butler, and William Butler father of James Butler. But this cannot be the James (son of William who is married to Charity Lowe). Hence Webb 1993 must be wrong on this issue.

     Capt William Butler See text for brother John. William was born at Virginia, USA, circa 1740. Pamela Butler: Goochland Co/Cumberland Co, VA.¹ He married Phoebe Childers (Childress) circa 1762.¹ William died on 9 November 1790 at Edgefield, South Carolina, USA.¹

     Phoebe was born circa 1740. She gives oath on 16 Apr 1826, at age 86, to William Butler's date of death..¹ She married Capt William Butler circa 1762.¹ Phoebe died after 16 April 1826 at Simpson, Kentucky, USA. She gives oath on this date to William Butler's date of death. She was 86 then..^1,2,3 Her body was interred at Simpson, Kentucky, USA, at Lowe Burial Ground.¹
