He married Marie K. Hefferman on 9 January 1926. He married Ivy Pritchard in 1951. Charles died on 21 October 1975 at Croydon, New South Wales, Australia, at age 71.

Hargreaves Book, p 88:

"William's eldest daughter Alice was born 1875 and died 19th April, 1884, aged nine years. (The story of her death is told by Henry in his 1884 letter to his son Israel in Texas. See Appendix.) She is buried in the Pioneers Cemetery, Tumut, with her father."
