"Andrew Durand served in the Army during the Revolutionary War (Pension S-2528)

Andrew Durand joined to Cheshire Church March 25, 1787, after the death of his first wife, Jerusha. His second wife joined the Cheshire Church, Mar. 17, 1793. He came from Milford to Cheshire. He was a farmer and cabinet maker. Later, he moved to Burton, Ohio, in Geauga County, in 1806. He built a house and large log barn on Log. 17. In 1812 and for some time thereafter, the Methodists held their meetings in his barn. He moved to Indiana and died there.

Samuel Durand, as a young man, was a cabinet maker in Hamden. He settled in Cheshire and became a farmer.

Samuel Durand enlisted in the Continental Army at the age of 16 from Waterbury. Later, while a resident of Cheshire, he enlisted April 1, 1778, and served as a musician in Captain Jotham Curtis' Connecticut company engaged in guarding the Sound near East Haven. His widow, Sussanna Durand was allowed a pension on her application executed Sept. 15, 1838, at which time she was living in Cheshire. In 1843, she was living in Berlin, Connecticut.
