I have a Samuel Riggs b 1760, Morris Co, NJ, moved to Surry Co, NC in 1765, presumably with his father who is conceivably this Edward Riggs. He moved to Powell's Valley, TN in 1777, and volunteered for frontier service in 1778. He returned to TN after the war (1780-1) and successfully applied for pension in 1833. [John C Dann, The Revolution Remembered, Eyewitness Accounts of the War for Independence (Chicago, IL: University of Chicago Press), 306-9] This book has Samuel's eyewitness account of the Sevier expedition against the Indians.

The LDS evidence incorrectly, I believe, has Ann married to Joseph Riggs (1) who must have died bef 17 Aug 1750 when Joseph Riggs (2) was born. I have just arbitrarily reassigned Joseph Riggs (1) his position. Could be totally wrong, of course..^3,4

     Rachel was born at ?Derby, CT, on 31 May 1734.¹ Rachel died on 25 May 1740 at age 5.¹

     Ebenezer was born at ?Derby, CT, on 17 November 1738.¹ Ebenezer died on 29 May 1740 at age 1.¹

     Eunice was born at ?Derby, CT, on 17 October 1745.¹ She was baptized at Oxford, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, in December 1745. Religion: (an unknown value).² She married an unknown person at Oxford, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, on 14 February 1769. I am not positive that it was this Eunice who married Thomas Clark..³

     Rachel was born at ?Derby, CT, on 22 January 1741.¹

     Jeremiah was born at Litchfield, Connecticut, USA, on 1 July 1750.¹ He was baptized at Oxford, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, on 5 August 1750. Religion: (an unknown value).² He married Anne Woodruff at Oxford, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, on 11 August 1768. LDS has ca 1771, Litchfield Co, CT for this..³ Jeremiah died in 1820 at Livonia Center, Livingstone, New York, USA.⁴ His body was interred at Livonia Center, Livingstone, New York, USA, at Livonia Cemetery.⁴

     Lois was born at ?Derby, CT, on 25 July 1743.¹ Lois died in August 1751 at age 8.¹

     Ebenezer was born at Derby, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, on 22 January 1748.¹ Ebenezer died in 1828.¹

     Joseph was born at ?Derby, CT, circa 1731. I believe the LDS evidence has Ann Canfield incorrectly married to this Joseph (1) rather than to Joseph (2). Note that Joseph (1) must have died before 1750 when Joseph (2) was born, but the marriage to Ann occurred in 1775..^1,2 Joseph died before 17 August 1750. When Joseph (2) was born.

     Ann was born at Derby, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, on 17 October 1751.¹ She married Joseph Riggs (2) at Oxford, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, on 13 November 1775. LDS evidence agrees in date; gives no place. The LDS evidence incorrectly, I believe, has Ann married to Joseph Riggs (1) who must have died bef 17 Aug 1750 when Joseph Riggs (2) was born.
