"Notes for Jacob Antrim TIMMONS

NOTES: Jacob and Adela moved to Denver, CO, after their marriage, arriving there 2 May 1895, where after "loafing" one day, went to work for the firm of Gaffey and Allen. His first job was to drive 216 - 22 foot piles in the bank of a creek. The sections were too long to load on one dray, so he put two drays side by side and 16 feet apart and loaded the piles across them. Then after midnight, when traffic was over, he hitched four teams of horses on each dray and hauled them to Cherry Creek. The bridge was still standing in 1939. Jacob said that his most vivid remembrance of his boyhood home was the Christian life and character of his mother, of their family devotions and Bible reading, and of his parents' love for their church, a love so great that they were willing to sacrifice and work for its advancement.

Jacob and Adela moved back to Lecompton, KS, in 1912 after Lydia, his sister, died, to care for his mother. They were there for 7 1/2 years, then moved back to Denver when their daughter, Ida, died in 1918. Susannah Timmons (his mother) went with them and lived 3 1/2 more years. 1 2

Leonard did not marry. He was an artist, lived in Gardena, CA. In 1942, he painted a life size portrait of a Civil War veteran, Col. Russell E. Martin, for the GAR. 1

"Leonard never married. He moved to Los Angeles, California, with his partner in 1931; they had joined in 1924. He lost his eyesight in 1949 and after four years of operations regained it. He had to wear thick glasses. He was an artist, and did mainly portraits of animals and people. The Daughters of the Union Veterans of the GAR commissioned him to paint a portrait of a civil war veteran, life size, Colonel Russell E. Martin, and presented it to the City of Los Angeles, and it is hanging in the city hall as a permanent exhibit." 2

William Reynolds1,2

M, d. 1853
William was born. He Reynolds, Durand posting 29 Sep 1999:

"Looking for information on the Reynolds and Durand families of Bartholomew County, Indiana. William (died 1853) and Mary Anderson Reynolds (married 1837 in Bartholomew County) and their children Samuel, David, Aletha, Richard and Lewis Gordon and possibly a William Jr. Mary moved to Minnesota, apparently after William's death and married a Luker. The children were raised in Waterville, Minn. William was possibly the son of David and Nancy Reynolds -- I have no info on them except that they probably came from New Jersey. It is possible that Samuel and Sarah Durand lived in Bartholomew County at some point around the same time -- their children were Orson, Sylvester, Orange, Harriet, Minerva and America. Samuel Reynolds married Harriet Durand in Minnesota in the 1860s."
