"... son of Silas and Nancy (Shaffe) Barner, natives of New York and descendants of German ancestry. Silas Barner was a farmer and preacher of the Methodist faith, and his death occurred in 1886. His wife died at the birth of their only child, Silas N., and Mr. Barner was married then to Sally Barton, who bore him two children: Brad, of Brooklyn, New York; and Eli, who is deceased [in 1912]."      Harriet was born at Rome, Bradford, Pennsylvania, USA, on 25 June 1815.¹ She married Rev Silas Barner after 7 May 1850. When his second wife died.¹ Harriet died on 30 November 1888 at Bumpville, Bradford, Pennsylvania, USA, at age 73.¹

     Sarah was born at Cobleskill, Schoharie, New York, USA, on 10 August 1810.¹ She married Rev Silas Barner on 25 November 1837.^2,3 Sarah died on 7 May 1850 at Batavia, Genesee, New York, USA, at age 39.¹

     Solomon was born.¹ He Jo Ann Johnson Locher's evidence cites his will:

"Cape Girardeau wills include Box 53, #1028 for Solomon Bolin with a date of Jan 22, 1844 on some of the papers. Alfred Crump was the administrator. Heirs were: Nancy Baker of Arkansas; Mary Ann Prawfer (probably Proffer ... a common name in Cape County) minor heir of Samuel Bolin, deceased; John Bolin; Celia Stroder; Priscilla Penturf; Lydia Crump; Jesse C. Bolin; Sarah Welch of Stoddard County. (All brothers and sisters)"

Cf this to the will of their father, William Bolin.

His middle name is probably Richard since his sister Nancy has a child named Solomon Richard Baker. He made a will at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA, on 22 January 1844.² Solomon died after 22 January 1844.²

Isaac Schellenger, late of Amagansett, deceased, made a genealogy of this family, dated Feb. 26, 1884, signed it, and gave it to me. Therefrom I have compiled the following:

JACOB SCHELLINX 1, or Schellinger, came to this country about the year 1653, and transacted business in New Amsterdam (now New-York) as agent for his uncle, a merchant of Amsterdam, Holland. His wife was Catherine Melyn, a sister of Cornelius Melyn, Patroon of Staten Island, and daughter of Cornelius Melyn. He d. in East-Hampton June 17, 1693, "67, and she d. Feb. 25, 1717," 88. They had ch. William 2 bap. March 8, 1654, Catherine 2 b. April 9, 1656, Abraham 2 b. Feb. 11, 1659, Daniel 2, Cornelius 2 and Jacob 2. Daniel 2 resided in Harlem, Holland, d. in Batavia, E. Indies, in 1701, leaving in Harlem a wid. and I think no ch. Cornelius 2 probably resided on Staten Island, or near N. Y. city. William 2 resided in E. Hampton and d. there March 6, 1735. Catherine 2, Abraham 2 and Jacob 2 settled In Amagansett, near 1690, and died there. Catherine 2m. Nathaniel Baker 2 s. of Thomas 1 and they had ch."      Daniel was born at ?Elizabethtown, New Jersey, USA, on 1 August 1692.¹ Daniel died on 16 March 1740 at age 47.¹

     Mary was born at ?Elizabethtown, New Jersey, USA, on 21 November 1688. "Ov Elizabeth, Union, Nj".¹ Mary died in 1725 at Elizabethtown, Essex, New Jersey, USA.¹
