David "Squire" Ogden [Og2207] Dale Parrott has this obituary from the Crestline Advocate, 1 Sep 1898:
"PIONEER CITIZEN GONE TO HIS REST
"DAVID OGDEN
"While it was known by many in this city that David Ogden was seriously ill and his recovery an impossibility, yet when the news of his death early Saturday morning, Aug 27, was announced it was a shock to many of his friends. Now it does not seem true that the old familiar face of 'Squire Ogden will never be seen on the street, in his office, at his accustomed seat in the Presbyterian church or at the secretary's desk in the F. & A. M. lodge room. He has gone from earth-life forever.
"David Ogden was brought to Crawford County by his parents in the spring of 1828, they having removed from Knox County where the subject of this sketch was born in 1819, and located on land where afterward the town of Crestline was built. For about 70 years Mr. Ogden lived here. He witnessed and took part in cutting down trees in the native forest, helped break the virgin soil, and saw the present town of Crestline grow up from a dreary looking tract of swamp land. He was early identified with the town and remained one of its representative citizens, honorable, upright and an honest man. When a young man he learned the milling trade, which business he followed for about fifteen years, and later he found employment with the Pennsylvania railroad company, working in the shops here for a number of years.
"In 1844 he was united in marriage to Mary Kirkland. Children were born to them but all with the wife preceeded him to that mysterious home of the soul.
"From the organization of our town to within a couple of years ago Mr. Ogden was a prominent figure having served as Mayor, Justice of the Peace and filled other minor offices to the credit of himself and those who placed him there. Hon. John Ogden, a brother is the only surviving member of the family. His home is in North Dakota and he was unable to attend the funeral, which took place Monday afternoon under the auspices of the Masons of this place of which he was a highly respected member."
In fact, David Ogden was the first Mayor of Crestline and SILAS DURAND was the seoncd one. See text for SILAS DURAND.

History of Crawford Co OH, p 859:
"DAVID OGDEN, Justice of the Peace, Crestline; was born in Knox Co., Ohio, in 1819, and came with his parents to Crestline in April, 1828, being one of the pioneers of the county. Mr. Ogden first learned the miller's trade, and worked at that business for about fifteen years. Since that time, he has been engaged in various coccupations, and, for the past twenty years, working in the carshops of the P., F. W. & D. R. R., at Crestline. Mr. Ogden was Justice of the Peace from 1853 to 1862; has also been Township Clerk for a period of six years. He drew up the papers and petition for the boundaries of Crestline, and was its first Mayor. Mr. Ogden was also the prime mover in securing the union school in 1858, his brother, John Ogden, now Principal of the Ohio Central Schol, delivering a lecture upon that subject at that time, which tended to help the movement. Mr. Ogden has always been a friend to every movement tending to improve Crestline in any form. He was married in 1844, to Mary J. Kirkland, of Richland Co. They have only one child living - Ellen. Mr. and Mrs. Ogden are both members of the Presbyterian Church."

Mary J Kirkland Dale Parrott has a copy of the following obituary from the Bucyrus Journal, Friday, 19 Dec 1890:
"Mary J. Ogden, wife of David Ogden, died at their home on South Thoman Street, December 10, at the age of 67 years. The funeral took place last Thursday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, from the residence, Rev. J. E. Andrews conducting the services. Mrs. Ogden was one of the oldest residents of this place, having come here 62 years ago. She was a prominent member of the Presbyterian church, and was widely known for her many Christian virtues, and as one who was ever ready to extend the helping hand to the sick and those in trouble. She was sick about a year with lung troubles, resulting from an attack of la grippe. She leaves her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Moorhead, to mourn the closing of her long and blameless life. In their sorrow they have the sincere sympathy of the community in which she was so well known and so highly esteemed."

NATHANIEL OGDEN [Og99]1,2,3,4,5
M, b. circa 1713, d. after 12 October 1790
Father | JOSEPH OGDEN 2d [Og19] b. c 1677, d. Jan 1720 |
Mother | JOANNA BAKER b. 7 Jul 1681, d. 26 May 1714 |
NATHANIEL OGDEN [Og99] The Ogden Family by W O Wheeler, p 90, item 99:
"NATHANIEL OGDEN (Joseph, Joseph, John), b. _____; d._____; m. Dec. 24, 1740, JUDITH BOQUETT, of New Brunswick, N. J. ("Boquett" is sometimes spelled "Foquett.")"
and
"The New Brunswick marriage records speak of NATHANIEL OGDEN as being from Elizabethtown, N. J. He was a Freeholder in New Brunswick in 1748. Two of his children, Phebe and Benjamin, were baptized in Presbyterian Ch., New York City."
[followed by a list of six children, their dates and spouses.]
NB, p 147, item 364, son David Ogden:
"David Ogden was of Middlesex Co., N. J., where records of his father NATHANIEL OGDEN and family's real estate transactions, etc. are on file."
NJ Marriage Records 1665-1800:
p 291: "Ogden, Nathaniel, Elizabethtown, and Judith Bouquett, New Bruns'k. 1740 Dec. 24"
p 51: "Bonquett, Judith, New Brunswick, and Nathaniel Ogden, Elizabetht'wn. 1740 Dec. 24"
So BOUQUETT and BONQUETT are two other spellings.
NJ Calendar of Wills, 1730-1750, p 216, lists NATHANIEL OGDEN as witness and taker of inventory for Thomas hance of New Brunswick, Middlesex Co whose will is dated 15 Jul 1746, proved 13 Aug 1746, inventory 28 Oct 1746.
From the Brunswick Gazette (NJ Newspapers), 12 Oct 1790, p 352:
"Nathaniel Ogden, bricklayer and paver, New Brunswick, intends to leave this place on Thursday next. All accounts may be settled with him at Major Thomas Egbert's in Albany street"
This comes shortly after the 17 Aug 1790 notice in the same newspaper, p 351:
"William Ryder and James Drake, New Brunswick, adv. for sale a farm, late the property of Benjamin Ogden, deceased, in Middlesex County ..."
Surely these two items are related. The question is, How are the two Ogdens related? Is Nathaniel our NATHANIEL, the father of Benjamin? We don't know when NATHANIEL died, so it is conceivable that he is still alive in 1790, in his 70s. Is it surprising that he decides to move away ("leave this place") on his youngest son's death? Perhaps he was living with Benjamin and no longer has a place to live since the farm is being sold? He IS the only Nathaniel we know of in Middlesex Co at the time. And since we don't know where he moved, perhaps it is not surprising that we can't find his death information.
There is another Nathaniel Ogden who might be the one referred to in this article. He is No 382 in The Ogden Family (p 150). He would be 33 years of age at the time, and he is described as "a mason by trade". Unfortunately, however, he was born, lived, and owned property in New York City. There are several other Nathaniels listed in The Ogden Family, but none of them seems to fit the bill. In particular none of them are recorded as having lived in Middlesex Co NJ. So we are left with the conclusion that NATHANIEL was alive 12 Oct 1790 and moved elsewhere to die.
The only fly in the ointment is that we haven't taken into account the fact that his two youngest children were baptized in New York City in 1749 and 1751 (the latter being Benjamin). So he appears to have lived outside Middlesex Co for a while at least.
NY First Presbyterian Church, p 102:
"Phebe Ogden born October th 22, (Dafter of Nathanael and Judeth Ogden) 1749.
benjamin ogden sun of Nathannael and Judeth ogden born october the 27 1751."
The NARA has Revolutionary War service records for Pvt Nathaniel Ogden that parallels almost exactly that of Pvt Benjamin Ogden whom we believe is ours. However, I am not convinced the following Nathaniel is our NATHANIEL but include this information because of its similarity to Benjamin's:

NATHANIEL was born at ?Elizabethtown, New Jersey, USA, circa 1713.6,7 He married JUDITH BOUQUETT (BONQUETT) at New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, USA, on 24 December 1740.8,9,4 He resided at New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, USA, in 1748, a Freeholder in New Brunswick in 1748.10 He resided at New York City, New York, New York, USA, on 22 October 1749, His daughter Phebe was b on this date and baptized in NYC..10 He resided at New York City, New York, New York, USA, on 27 October 1751, His son Benjamin was b on this date and baptized in NYC.10 He resided at New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, USA, on 12 October 1790.11 NATHANIEL died after 12 October 1790.10,11
