Earl's mother ,"Alberta Lee in The Clansman 1903-08" (from reverse of following photo). Alberta played Mrs. Lincoln in the screen version of The Clansman: D. W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation. NB. This classic film (and the book and the play it is based on) is controversial and was considered racist even in its time (1915).
