"Nathaniel II, the first son of Nathaniel I and Susannah Whitehead Bonnel, is our ancestor. He was born in 1670 at Elizabeth and died at Elizabeth, September 4, 1736. He was County Collector in 1724. His wife's name was Mary (perhaps her surname was Searing.) In his will, he is referred to as a carpenter. His wife Mary is mentioned and his son, Nathaniel, to whom he leaves his lands "above the Mountains west from Elizabeth" -- possibly at Turkey (now New Providence) where Nathaniel III settled. (New Jersey Archives XXX, p. 51)
