I believe the following came with the Crane Tree:

Joseph Crane was lieutenant in the 2nd Regiment, Essex County Militia, during the Revolutionary War. "He moved from Westfield to the Passaic Valley and settled on a farm of 154 acres which he purchased of Nathanial Smith in May 1764 located on the north and adjoining his brother, Isaac, and west of Benjamin Pettit. His farm extended to the river. His widow went with her sons to Ohio and died there over 90 years of age." "Joseph was commissioned a 2nd Lt in Capt. Amos Dodd's Co., Essex County Troop. Mortally wounded while making a gallant forlorn-hope assault on Ft. Delancy at Saltersville, a port on Newark Bay. Died as a result of his wounds." Alphretta Gunn Madison. The birthdates of his children are printed in the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey, Vol 48, May 1793, Page 93.
