This book commemorates the 150th anniversary of the immigration of Henry Hargreaves and his wife, Susannah Blomley, to New South Wales, Australia, in 1840 from the Burnley, Lancashire, region of England. About 600 descendants of these immigrants gathered in 1990 in Tumut, NSW, the Australian homeplace of the Hargreaves family, for the Sesquicentenary celebration. The book was written by eight authors, each descended from a different one of Henry and Susannah's eight children, and it was compiled under the general editorship of Colin Hargreaves. It is profusely illustrated. I descend from the "Sarah branch" of the Henry Hargreaves family, and my mother, Edith Hortense (Sanders) Smith, wrote the chapter on that branch. Her father and my grandfather, Jefferson Jackson Sanders, was born in Australia.
