Riggs Vol 1

Note that these corrections also apply to the generation 4 census supplement, in general

Corrections

11 Mar 2013: p. 530, sketch 344: Change the mother of Mary Ellen Large to "Maggie (Bazil) Large." She was buried in Sacajawea Cem., Ft. Washakie, Fremont Co., Wyo. A gravestone photograph by James Crandell-Stapleton read, "Maggie Bazil Large | Grand Daughter of  |  Sacajawea | Daughter of Bazil | 1856 - 1923." [Find a Grave, no. 20605336]. Shadrack J. Large is buried there too. Also, in that sketch, for child 1044, Redelia Ethel Riggs, change "five boys and one girl" to "five girls and one boy." [Thanks to Cindy McReynolds for both of these corrections].

1 Mar 2010: p. 533, sketch 346: Change Annie's birth and death information from "born 4 May 1873 (gravestone), Utah Terr., died 15 Aug. 1959," to "born 4 May 1874 (death certificate) or 4 May 1873 (gravestone), Utah Terr., died 15 Aug. 1954, Phoenix, Maricopa Co., Ariz.,". The death date error appears in the transcription of gravestones I cited in note 2876, so note 2876 should be changed to: "Gravestone photograph, Pima Cem., Graham Co., Ariz., 'Follett | Joseph Edward | Feb. 7, 1860 | Apr. 21, 1950 || Annie L. Boren | May 4, 1873 | Aug. 15, 1954'; death certificate, Ariz. State Dept. of Health, state file no. 4661, registrar's no. 1726, Anna Follett, died 15 Aug. 1954, Maricopa Co. General Hospital, Phoenix, Maricopa Co., resident of Sun Valley Rest Home, 126 W. Maryland, Phoenix, female, white, widowed, housewife, born 4 May 1874, Utah, aged 80, father Boren Bryant, born Utah, mother Nancy Jane Riggs, born Utah, informant Mrs. Arthur Bodine, Miami, Ariz., cause congestive heart failure, buried 17 Aug. 1954, Pima Cem., Pima, Ariz.'" [Thanks to Margaret Pattison, who also supplied a digitized photocopy of the death certificate. A more reliable transcription of the Pima Cem. is now found at <freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~grahamcem> (saved 1 Mar. 2010).]  Based on this new evidence I would change Annie's name to Anna everywhere or to Anna/Annie.

1 Mar. 2010: p. 534, sketch 347: Change Lewis's birth information ("born Feb. 1859 (1900 census), Utah Terr.") to this birth, death, and burial information: "born 27 Sept. 1857 (death certificate) or Feb. 1859 (1900 census), Pleasant Grove, Utah Terr., son of Calvin and [Pleasant?] Ann (Allred) Moore, and died 12 Nov. 1942, aged 85, Globe, Gila Co., Ariz., and was buried 14 Nov. 1942, Pinal Cem.[1]." [Thanks to Margaret Pattison, who supplied a digitized photocopy of the death certificate.] Based on this new evidence I would change Rosette's name to Rosetta/Rosette everywhere.

28 Oct 2009: p. 81, note 362: Append "The date of the move to Missouri conflicts with a Revolutionary War bounty land claim by Rebecca Applegate, widow of Zebulon Applegate, who states in her affidavit that she and Zebulon were married 8 Aug. 1813, Campbell Co., Ky., by 'Johnathan' Riggs a Baptist minister [NARA M804, New Jersey, W10367]. Indeed they were bonded on 22 July 1813, Campbell Co., Ky. [Worrell, Northern Kentucky Marriages]."

26 Jun 2009: p. 253, note 1159 should be: "U.S. census, 1880, Eddyville, Wapello Co., Iowa, ED 55, r. 367, p. 11C, dw. 232, fam. 232. Isaac resided in dw. 227."

6 May 2009: p. 256, note 1180: "Warren Co." should be "Warrick Co.".

15 Feb 2007: p. 591, line 4: "is" should be "was".

6 Jan 2007: p. 603: "Rigg's" should be "Riggs's" in title.

5 Jan 2007: p. xviii, Picture Credits, and plate XIV, fig. 18 caption: According to Jennifer Bumann, source of the photo of the sons of John Shaw, the identities are "[back row] - Robert, Joe, Jonathon nickname 'Jot', [front row] - James, John, Will," as she recorded them when visiting her mather's cousin Evelyn Mason several years ago. Evelyn has the original glass picture. [Thanks to Jennifer Bumann.] This clashes with the identification of James as the man at the lower right as recorded in the History of Lee County, Texas (p. xviii), so I offer it as an alternative.
