The 1790 NY Census for the "town of Schoharry", 202:

George Barner 1 1 3

lists GEORGE with 1 son < 16 (that would be Simeon (Simon) b 1789), SARAH, and two daughters (which would be Sarah b 1785 and Catharina b 1786). The next child, Johannes, was b 24 Oct 1790.

The 1800 Schoharie Co NY Census, Cobleskill, 153:

for 1M 0-9, 1M 10-15, 1M 26-44, 1F 0-9, 1F 16-25, 1F 26-44. This is puzzling because our records would have this for GEORGE in 1800:

GEORGE BERNER 3 1 _ 1 _, 2 1 _ 1 _

for Johannes 9, Hendrick 8, David 5, Simeon 11, GEORGE 42, PHOEBE 3, Catharine 2, Sarah 15, and SARAH 34. We are fairly sure that the following children were alive in 1800: Simeon, David, PHOEBE, and Catherine. If only these survived to 1800, then we would have

which implies that Sarah must also have lived and been incorrectly (?) placed, at 15, in the 16-25 age group. So this record would imply that Johannes and Hendrick were dead by 1800. The child I am most uncertain was alive in 1800 is Catherine. I tend to count her as alive because there was a Katherine Berner who witnessed GEORGE's will in 1829.

Listed next to GEORGE in the 1800 census are John Berner and Joseph Berner.

The 1820 NY Census for Schoharie Co has this entry:

with the last 2 being the number of persons engaged in agriculture and the remaining numbers read as follows: 2M 10-15, 1M 16-18, 1M 16-25, 2M 26-44, 1M 45+, 1F 45+.

From other sources for GEORG BARNER, he would be 62 on 1 Jun 1820 and SARAH would be 55. Their children would be 2M 10-15, 1M 16-18, 2M 16-25, 3M 26-44, 2F 16-25, 1F 26-44. Assuming all the daughters are married, David 25 is married, and one of the sons 26-44 is married (or dead), all reasonable assumptions, then the count is as given in the census.

"p. 19. GEORGE BARNER of Cobleskill. Dated Dec. 22, 1829. Probated Aug. 9, 1830. Mentions: sons: Silas, Simon, David G., Joshua, Levey, wife Lana, Witnesses: Martinus Borst of Middleburgh, Katharine Berner of Cobleskill, Henry Shafer of Cobleskill, Executors: sons: Simeon, David G., Silas. signed George Barner."

This all fits except for wife "Lana". Either this is the wife of Levey (Levi) or it is a transcription error for Sara. SARAH was alive at GEORGE's death.

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Baptism Records, for 29 Nov 1795, lists as sponsors for the birth of Jeremias Kilmer (son of Jurrian and Salome Kilmer): "Jurrian Berning and Sene Berning". Note that GEORGE's sister Salome married George Kilmer and had son Jeremiah, bap 29 Nov 1795. So Jurrian and Sene are surely GEORGE ("Jurrian") and SARAH (transcription error from Sara?). The Sara BARNER LDS christening record says "Birth: 30 Apr 1785, Saint Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schoharie, Schoharie, New York", thus appearing to be a baptism record rather than a birth record. Her father is here given as Jurgen BARNER.

I have not yet personally inspected this census; it was reported to me by Carly Basped.. He resided at Denver, Denver, Colorado, USA, in 1900.¹ George died in 1922.² His body was interred on 25 September 1922 at Denver, Denver, Colorado, USA, at Fairmount Cemetery.^8,2

     Margaret Durand [Du713] "Lived: Sedgwick City, Harney County, Kansas."

There is a Sedgwick, Harvey [not Harney] Co, KS. It is about a mile north of the border with Sedgwick Co.

There is an LDS Individual Record for "Maggie DURAND F Spouse: James K. FRANCIS Marriage: 21 Sep 1893, Sedgwick, Kansas". It is not known if this our Margaret, but the location is suggestive. On the other hand 1893 is quite late for our Margaret. Rough estimates would put her b c1849 (to be younger than her brother George b 1847) m c1870. But it could be a second marriage.
