"Crane, Eliza, wife of Levi Clark, 1800-Oct.24, 1834 ae.34." She married Levi Clark.³ Eliza was born circa 1800.² She was the daughter of Joseph Crane Jr and Sally Bebout. Eliza died on 24 October 1834 at New Jersey, USA.² Her body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.²

     She married Abraham Crane.¹

     Squire Parrott Day Gravestones, Methodist Burying Ground, New Providence NJ:

"Day, Squire Parrot, son of D.W. and Caroline Day, 1849-Dec.9,1876 ae.27." Squire was born circa 1849.¹ He was the son of Caroline Parrott. Squire died on 9 December 1876 at New Jersey, USA.¹ His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.¹

     Capt, Rev Stephen Day First Settlers, p 116:

"7. Stephen, 2d, born December, 1778, married, 1st, Sally Mulford, daughter of Cornelius; 2d, Elizabeth Wood, daughter of Captain Daniel S. Wood. He was a captain of the militia."

Also, p 117:

"CAPT. STEPHEN DAY. (7th child of Benjamin Day, Esq., son of Daniel, son of Jonathan, son of Joseph) and Sally Mulford, had but one son, Mulford ... [list of his wives and children]

Founders of New Providence, p 9:

"Benjamin Day married Elizabeth Roberts and had a son named Stephen who attained much prominence and was a captain in the War of 1812. Captain Stephen Day married Sally Mulford, a member of another noteworthy New Providence family, and had a son , Mulford Day, who married Sarah Brookfield. The second child of Mulford and Sally Brookfield Day was the George Bangheart Day of whose recent death I have spoken. Sally Mulford Day died after the birth of Mulford Day, and some years afterward Captain Stephen Day married for his second wife Elizabeth Wood, daughter of Captain Daniel . Wood, and member of another well known New Providence family also known in Summit.

Ten children were born to Captain Stephen and Elizabeth Wood Day. The first Daniel, died in infancy. There followed Benjamin Stephen, Peter Davison who entered the Methodist ministry; Samuel Thomas, whose family was best known in New Providence; Waters, who accidentally shot himself while hunting, when a young man; Daniel W., who married Caroline Parrott, daughter of Squier Parrott, and was for many years a leading citizen of Summitt; Francis Asbury, William McKendry, and Edwin Augustus." Stephen was born in December 1778.^4,2 He was the son of Benjamin Day Esq and Elizabeth Roberts. He married Sally Mulford circa 1800.⁴ He married Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood before 1805. Daniel, presumably their first child, died in 1805, aged 9 months..⁵ Stephen died on 19 August 1864 at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at age 85.² His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.²

     She married Capt, Rev Stephen Day circa 1800.¹

"Day, Rev. Mulford Apr.8,1801-June 26,1851

First Settlers, p 117:

"Capt. Stephen Day ... and Sally Mulford, had but one son, Mulford, who married, 1st. Sarah Brookfield, daughter of Job, of Spring Valley, and had children: 1. Harriet; 2d George Bangheart; 3. Phebe Anne. His wife Sarah then died, and he married, 2d, Sarah Thompson, daughter of Elias, of Bordentown, and had other children, 4th, Elias Thompson; 5th, Rachel; 6th. Betsey; 7th. Benjamin; 8th, Mary Thompson.

Mulford Day died 26th June, 1851." Mulford was born on 8 April 1801.^3,2 He was the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day. He married Sarah Brookfield.^3,2 He married Sarah Thompson after 20 June 1833. Death date of first wife.³ Mulford died on 26 June 1851 at New Jersey, USA, at age 50.^3,2 His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.²

     Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood Gravestones of New Providence:

"Day, Rev. Stephen 1778-Aug.19,1864 ae.86
Day, Betsey Wood, wife of Rev. Stephen, 1786-Jun 5,1884 ae.96." Elizabeth was born in 1786.¹ She was the daughter of Capt Daniel Smith Wood and Sarah Johnson. She married Capt, Rev Stephen Day before 1805. Daniel, presumably their first child, died in 1805, aged 9 months..² Elizabeth died on 5 June 1884 at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA.¹ Her body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.¹

     Benjamin Stephen Day is the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood.

There is a problem here: Son Mulford B is Mulford Brookstone (see First Settlers evidence below), which argues against another son with the Brookfield name. Furthermore, the second Brookfield Day's birthdate of 1813 implies his parents are 4 and 3 years old. I will simply ignore the second Brookfield here. I suspect that they are the same person and that the 1813 birthdate should be 1843, and is thus a transcription error.

First Settlers, p 117:

"4. Stephen married Rachel brookfield, daughter of Job, half sister of Mulford's first wife, and had children: 1. Elizabeth, who died at about 2 1/2 years; 2. Mulford Brookfield; 3. Daniel Davison." He married Rachel Brookfield.^1,2 Stephen was born in 1809.^1,2 He was the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood. Stephen died on 26 September 1887 at New Jersey, USA.² His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.²

     Rev Peter Davison Day New Providence Gravestones:

"Day, Rev. Peter D. Aug.7,1811-Oct.10,1888
Day, Jane Voorhees, wife of Peter, Aug.10,1815-Aug.1890"

First Settlers, p 117:

"5. Peter Davison, married, 1st, Stella Elizabeth Reading, of Sussex County, and had a son, Watson, who died young, and she died, and he married, 2d, Jane Voorhies, of Mendham, and had children: 2. Sarah Elizabeth; 3. Stella Jane; 4. Frances." He married Jane Voorhies.^3,2 He married Stella Elizabeth Reading.³ Peter was born on 7 August 1811.² He was the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood. Peter died on 10 October 1888 at New Jersey, USA, at age 77.² His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.²

     Samuel Thomas Day New Providence Gravestones:

Notice that daughter is not listed in First Settlers. Samuel was born on 18 December 1816.¹ He was the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood. He married Elizabeth Crane before 1857. Daughter b (or d) 7 Mar 1857, 2 months old at d.¹ Samuel died on 8 February 1892 at New Jersey, USA, at age 75.¹ His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.¹

     Waters Burrows Day First Settlers, p 117:

"7. Waters, who accidentally shot himself when a young man, and died."

New Providence Gravestones:

"Day, Waters Burrows, son of Stephen and Betsey, Dec. 15,1818-Apr.6,183[?]" The last digit did not copy in my photocopy of the transcribed record.
Waters was born on 15 December 1818.² He was the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood. Waters died on 6 April 1835 at New Jersey, USA, at age 16. The date is 6 Apr 183x, the last digit having been lost in photocopying.² His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.²

     Francis Asbury Day is the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood.

     William McKendry Day is the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood.

     Rev Edwin Augustus Day New Providence Gravestones:

"Day, Rev. Edwin Jan.8,1828-Nov.9,1884." Edwin was born on 8 January 1828.¹ He was the son of Capt, Rev Stephen Day and Elizabeth A "Betsey" Wood. Edwin died on 9 November 1884 at New Jersey, USA, at age 56.¹ His body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.¹

     Elizabeth was born.¹ She married Jonathan Parsons on 30 December 1790.¹ Elizabeth died on 4 July 1844.¹

     William was born. He was the son of William Parsons and Deborah (?). He married Mary Searing.¹ William died on 10 November 1792.¹

     She married William Parsons Jr.¹ Mary was born on 2 September 1734.¹ Mary died on 16 August 1815 at age 80.¹

     William Parsons First Settlers, p 315:

"WILLIAM PARSONS, Esq. came to Passaic Valley from Long Island, and settled on lot No. 13 of the Elizabethtown lots, first owned by William Broadwell, where J. H. Parsons, lived. He was born 1710, and died 4th October, 1765, aged 55 years. His wife's name was Deborah, who died 5th Feb. 1792, very aged. They had children: 1. Deborah ... 2. William, Jun. ..." William was born in 1710.² He married Deborah (?).² William died on 4 October 1765.²

     Deborah was born. She married William Parsons.¹ Deborah died on 5 February 1792.¹

     Elizabeth (?) Gravestones, Methodist Burying Ground, New Providence NJ:

"Williams, Elizabeth, wife of Zophar S., 1779 - Oct.17, 1865 ae. 86." Elizabeth was born circa 1779.¹ She married Zophar S Williams.¹ Elizabeth died on 17 October 1865 at New Jersey, USA.¹ Her body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.¹

     Mary "Polly" Williams is the daughter of Zophar S Williams and Elizabeth (?). She married Ezra Drake.²

     He married Mary "Polly" Williams.²

     Eliza Williams Drake Gravestones, Methodist Burying Ground, New Providence NJ:

"Tucker, Elizabeth, wife of Freeman, 1793-Dec.5, 1817 ae. 24"

I am assuming that the 1817 is a misreading of the gravestone's 1847 (to match the 5 Dec 1847 death date from First Settlers, p 452). Assuming further that the age at death is 24 gives birthyear of abt 1823. Note added in proof: Freeman Tucker remarried on 30 Jun 1850 (First Settlers, p 452). Eliza was born circa 1823.^3,2 She married Freeman Tucker.⁴ Eliza died on 5 December 1847 at New Jersey, USA.^4,2 Her body was interred at New Providence, Essex, New Jersey, USA, at Methodist Burying Ground.²

     He married Eliza Williams Drake.¹ He married Hannah Mariah Norman on 30 June 1850.¹

     She married Freeman Tucker on 30 June 1850.¹

     Jonathan Mulford is the son of Esther Conklin. He married Deborah Ludlow.¹

     She married Jonathan Mulford.¹

     Daniel Mulford First Settlers, p 298:

"Daniel, who graduated at Princeton College, about 1805, studied law, commenced practice, and bid fair to become eminent in his profession; but consumption seized upon him, and he died 26th Oct. 1811, aged 30 years."

Daniel Mulford Letters:

He is the recipient of many letters, in this evidence, from his sister Betsey Crane, several of which mention THOMAS PARROTT. Daniel was born circa 1781.² Daniel died on 26 October 1811.²
