The Company

Altamira Software Corporation was incorporated in Mill Valley, California, in 1991. Cofounding the company with me were Nicholas Clay and Eric Lyons. Seed capital came from Autodesk and second-round financing from a team of venture capitalists (TVI) and private individuals who purchased the Autodesk shares. Our Windows product, Altamira Composer, the first image composition application, and the first imaging product to feature image sprites (ie, non-rectangular, floating images), entered the market in November 1993. Altamira officially merged with Microsoft in September 1994.
